Gia Has Been Busy
So here’s roughly what I’ve been doing for the eight months since my last post:
- Moving to Texas
- Writing for ANN
- Working on another half-dozen of side projects
That’s pretty much it. I’m finally in a space where I’m taking on a bit more freelance work, and also just launched a new site (in beta)– just a for-fun project. I’ve been writing for a site called JobDeals that’s devoted to local service providers, and for a TV site that hasn’t launched yet (more on that later). Aaand I’ve been helping the wonderful Teri as she tweaks her site, JacksonHoleBuzz.
Most importantly, I’ve been having a lot of fun!
Anime News Network!
Yes, I mentioned a while ago that I would be taking some anime-related work in June, and have since started my part-time gig at the Anime News Network, the largest and longest-running anime news site on the ‘net (I think). I’m helping out on both the news and the features front, writing, editing, brainstorming, etc. Here are a few items I’ve done over there:
- Review: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
- Convention report: FanimeCon 2010 (includes several interviews)
- News: Bleach, 2nd Hell Girl Season Streamed
Just a handful of what’s been going on and what’s to come for me at ANN.

French Beds I Have Slept In
Well, not ME– but Fran Kearton, a relative whose book, French Beds I Have Slept In (And Some I Wish I Hadn’t), I’ve been editing for some time now! The book is in the final stages before it gets printed, and we’ve launched a website for the book in preparation!
Fran has been blessedly patient with me for the duration of this project, since I’ve been editing her book while working full-time elsewhere, but now we’re finally almost done! Soon we’ll have copies that Fran will sell and who off at signings and readings.
